Blue Man Group Cambridge reviews
Years of Anticipation
On one of my first trips to the US, to Boston, in the early 2000’s I saw an advert for the BMG and thought I have to see them. 2 decades later and after some favorable reviews from friends I thought I should get it done.
The venue and location no problem. Attentiveness and friendliness of staff was great. When they realized I was squeezed in with long legs they moved us to vacant seats with a bit of extra legroom. Nice! Highly appreciated.
Now for the show, the musical sections were great and lived up to my expectations. I mean who doesn’t like drums and percussion and cool rock type music with some cool graphic effects thrown in.
Some of the audience engagement felt a bit pantomime for my taste and explained why there was a high proportion of families and adolescents present.
I enjoyed the show, but can’t help but wonder if I shouldn’t have gone 2 decades ago when I first saw it advertised.
It was ok
We had fun, but expected more paint on the drums. That part was excellent! Some of the show felt a little boring when they were in the audience as we couldn’t see behind us. No paint came near us in the second row, but I got hit with water so bad that my entire head was soaked, it soaked through my turtleneck and down into my whole shirt - my armpits were even soaked. And this was with a poncho on! The hose just got right in there and drenched me. It was cold out so was worried about the walk to hotel. Overall glad I went.
